Summary/Objective:
Develops and evaluates calibration systems that measure characteristics of objects such as length, mass and derived units of physical or chemical measure by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for CMM programming – from basic programming to expert level programming.
- Maintains a safe work environment and complies with all EHS policies and procedures.
- Maintains conformance to IATF 16949 quality management standards. Verify respective lab procedures and documentation are accurate. Initiate revisions to procedures as appropriate.
- Lead 5S activities for lab.
- Responsible to ensure equipment calibrations are up to date and conduct repairs as needed.
- Responsible to provide guidance, leadership and subject matter expert on metrology topics
- Perform statistical analysis to qualify measurement equipment.
- Create and facilitate incoming inspection plans.
- Perform and support to create ISIR/dimensional reports for compiling PPAP documentation.
- Work with vendors to request RFQ for calibrations, gages, and additional services in accordance with ZF policies. Create purchase requisitions as applicable.
- Support production quality issues and help to resolve.
- Perform basic quality inspections using CMM, gauges, and other devices or equipment.
- Perform incoming inspections, in-process inspections, dock audits, process audit and create quality alerts.
- Maintain traceability of parts by serial number by using bar code scanning equipment.
- Initiate, perform, and manage sorts, scrap material processing, and production setups.
- Use basic GD&T knowledge to refer to blueprints to determine proper specifications for inspection. (Datums, norms, etc.).
- Work closely with Process Quality Engineers (PQE), Supplier Quality Engineers (SQE), suppliers and coworkers for component quality improvements and root cause analysis (5 Why, 8D, etc.).
- Use of MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook to facilitate communication.
- Must be flexible with work schedule and work assignments.
- Communicate issues between shifts and escalates to leadership as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
22. Interprets ballooned customer drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerance, and purchase order requirements.
- Utilizes software to create programs, including documented set up instructions for First Piece, In-Process and Final Inspection.
- Operates CMM to run previously proven programs for First Piece, In-Process and Final Inspection.
- Correlates CMM inspection data with hand inspection tools and/or plate inspections including micrometers, indicators, height gages, etc.
- Document inspection results.
- Operates within ISO and/or IATF requirements to include proper documentation, revision control, traceability and lot control.
Qualifications:
Education and experience required for the role.
1. Engineering Degree or 5 years of CMM Programming experience in the Plastics Industry
2. Mechanical aptitude
3. CAD experience helpful
