Position Overview

The PSI Sales Manager reports to the General Manager, and by dotted line to the President, and is responsible for leading and driving the sales team to achieve revenue targets, developing and implementing sales strategies, and maintaining strong customer relationships. This role demands a thorough understanding of the plastics industry, machinery used in the manufacturing process, and a keen ability to identify and capture market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales Strategy Development and Execution

a. Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies aligned with the company's business goals and market trends.

b. Conduct market research to identify potential markets, customer needs, and competitive landscape.

c. Set sales targets, forecast sales performance, and monitor progress to ensure achievement of revenue goals.

2. Team Leadership and Management

a. Lead, mentor, and motivate the direct sales team and manufacturer's representatives to meet and exceed sales targets.

b. Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the team's product knowledge, CRM usage, sales techniques, and customer service skills. Third-party resources are encouraged for sales technique training.

c. Evaluate direct and indirect team performance and provide constructive feedback to ensure continuous improvement.

3. Customer Relationship Management

a. Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, understanding their needs and ensuring their satisfaction.

b. Act as the primary point of contact for major accounts, including OEMs, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and effectively.

c. Develop strategies to retain existing customers and attract new ones through exceptional service, value propositions, and relationship-building.

4. Sales Operations and Process Improvement

a. Oversee the entire sales process, from lead generation to closing deals, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.

b. Become an expert in implementing and utilizing the company CRM system as a primary tool to track sales activities, customer interactions, and sales performance metrics.

c. Continuously evaluate and improve sales processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance productivity and customer experience.

5. Product and Industry Knowledge

a. Maintain in-depth knowledge of the company's products, features, benefits, applications, and sizing.

b. Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting the plastics manufacturing sector.

c. Collaborate with the product development and marketing teams to ensure the sales team is well-equipped with the latest product information and marketing materials.

6. Financial and Reporting Responsibilities

a. Prepare and manage the sales budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve sales objectives.

b. Generate regular sales reports, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making.

c. Monitor market conditions and competitor activities, adjusting sales strategies as necessary to maintain a competitive edge.

7. Networking and Business Development

a. Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote products and expand the customer base.

b. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations to drive growth.

c. Develop and maintain a robust network of industry contacts and potential clients.

Required Skills and Qualifications

1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is a plus.

2. Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in sales management, preferably in the machinery or plastics industry.

3. Skills:

a. Strong leadership and team management skills.

b. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

c. Proficient in using CRM software and sales analytics tools.

d. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

e. Technical knowledge of machinery and plastics manufacturing processes.
