What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator position at PSI?
Essential Functions:
· Understands and follows all company safety policies and procedures.
· Performs and documents pre-shift inspection of equipment.
· Reviews Processing Order, drawings instructions and other written specifications.
· Determines processing specifications such as materials, burning tips, location of cutting lines, dimensions, tolerances, tooling needed and operational sequences.
· Selects correct material per the processing ticket, picks and pulls.
· Positions work pieces for processing (may operate a combination of different material handling equipment)
· Sets up machine with correct program, selects proper consumables, sets gas flow and machine feed rates for material type and thickness.
· Uses gauges, calipers indicators, tape measures or rulers for measurement
· Sets up and aligns specified material or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, shims or hand tools
· Performs In Process Quality Inspections, performs quality control inspections on finished product.
· Diagnoses problems, trouble shooting and makes necessary adjustments.
· Removes scrap from machine
· Coordinates and executes material handling to be processed including operation of overhead crane
· Completes work order paperwork/documentation
· Restocks material with inventory tag number, appropriate color code and location code
· Completes production log with material usage and finished goods as well as remnant returned to stock if any.
· Removes completed parts from production table, cleans and package appropriately for shipment and safe transport.
· Mark material after processing, store material for additional processing and/or shipping
· Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
Job Requirements:
· Basic reading and writing comprehension in English (to read instructions, Picking tickets, safety and policies manuals)
· Basic measuring skills to read and convert English and Metric systems
· Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions
· Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows software (for loading up design to be burned)
· Minimum one (1) year experience in operating burning machine or as machine operator helper
· Experience and certified overhead crane operation and forklift certification.
· Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination
