What are the responsibilities and job description for the MHU Nurse - LPN (Part Time) position at PSIMED Corrections, LLC?
PSIMED Corrections, LLC, a leading behavioral health provider for West Virginia prisons, regional jails and juvenile facilities, is seeking a part-time licensed LPN to provide psychiatric nursing services onsite at the Mount Olive Correctional Complex. Working Monday through Friday afternoons (15 - 20 hours/week).
Job Requirements
Provide psychiatric nursing services.
Provide medication administration on the Mental Health Unit.
Monitor clients’ prescribed psychotropic medications to assess treatment effectiveness and medication side effects by ensuring all mental health caseload clients are evaluated by the psychiatrist.
Participate in medical treatment review.
Provide documentation in the EMR of clients’ treatment.
Education
Requires LPN certification.
License
Must hold an active Practical Nurse license to practice in the state of West Virginia, valid and good standing.
Experience
Requires a minimum of three years’ nursing experience.
Experience working with justice involved clients preferred.
Must have experience which indicates knowledge of mental health services, diagnoses and treatment of major mental disorders and mental status techniques.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology especially pertaining to mental health.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with others.
Ability to deal calmly and appropriately with stressful situations. Maintain professionalism with clients and teammates.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in accordance with PSIMED Corrections and WVDCR policies, procedures and practices.
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, email and EMR.
MUST PASS BACKGROUND CHECK AND DRUG SCREEN.
