What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical & Process Designer position at PsiNapse Technology, Ltd.?
Our client, a premier construction and engineering design firm, is seeking a Mechanical & Process Designer to join their team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting Mechanical, Process, and Plumbing Engineers across a range of projects, from small-scale to large-scale developments. This is an entry-level position, and preference will be given to candidates with a fundamental understanding of HVAC, piping systems, and the consulting engineering or design-build contracting industries. The pay rate is $33.00 - $45.00 per hour.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with senior engineers throughout the design and construction administration process.
- Develop MEP and Process engineering designs using Revit.
- Conduct analyses to generate design options and recommendations.
- Assist in the planning and design of MEP and Process systems for commercial and industrial facilities, including educational institutions, healthcare centers, and office buildings.
- Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules.
- Propose innovative solutions to design challenges.
- Coordinate project scope, design elements, and deadlines with project managers and senior engineers.
- Review submittals, shop drawings, and respond to RFIs in a timely manner.
- Conduct construction site reviews and prepare feasibility studies and basis of design reports.
- Manage tasks efficiently to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Actively participate in design and construction project team meetings.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively across disciplines.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building and energy codes, as well as LEED standards.
- Implement designs within a BIM environment.
- Conduct field surveys of existing mechanical and piping systems to optimize client solutions.
- Assist in tool installation design, including layout planning, mechanical and piping utility design, and development of specialized drawings such as process flow diagrams and P&IDs.
- Support environmental health and safety code compliance reports and calculations.
- Adhere to quality assurance procedures during the design process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
- Knowledge of codes, standards, and engineering/construction processes.
- Familiarity with HVAC and piping system concepts and engineering calculation methods.
- Understanding of relevant codes and standards, including Building Codes, NFPA, ASME B31.3, ACGIH, ASHRAE, and ANSI.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Bluebeam and other engineering analysis/compliance software is a plus.
- Experience working with Revit is required.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- LEED Accreditation preferred.
- Experience with Autodesk BIM 360 is an advantage.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple project deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
- Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
- Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
