This role focuses on researching emerging AI and data technologies, developing advanced data platforms, and enabling Mobility as a Service (MaaS) for millions of vehicles. Reporting to the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mobility by creating scalable and intelligent AI/data infrastructures. The hourly pay rate is $75.00 - $85.00.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define and execute research goals for AI and data technologies.
- Collaborate with university researchers on emerging AI algorithms and technologies.
- Develop and evaluate advanced data platforms (open-source and commercial) applicable to diverse business services, including battery management, supply chain, marketing, mobility, and customer support solutions.
- Lead the innovation and development of data capabilities to optimize AI infrastructure.
- Generate patents and publish research in prestigious journals and conferences.
- Drive discussions around products and applications leveraging AI and data technologies.
- Research and build capabilities in data ingest, integration, labeling, cleansing, processing, analytics, and management.
- Develop scalable, high-performance solutions with a focus on:
- Reduced latency and costs
- High availability and redundancy
- Security, encryption, and observability
- Conduct Proof-of-Concept (PoC) and benchmarks to assess performance, reliability, and scalability of AI/data services.
- Establish collaborations with universities and industry consortiums to stay ahead in AI and data innovation.
- Mentor and train junior researchers across teams and departments.
- Transfer research findings to advanced development teams and generate tangible business value.
- Advocate for AI and data platforms through executive-level presentations and thought leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years in R&D, with proven credentials in patents and publications.
- Strong expertise in end-to-end data services, including data ingest (ETL/ELT, streaming), integration, processing, analytics, and storage (SQL, NoSQL, vector databases).
- 3 years of hands-on experience with advanced data platforms, distributed cloud systems, and architecture.
- Proficiency in AI infrastructure optimization, including data observability, normalization, clustering, and monitoring.
- PoC and benchmarking experience in AI/data infrastructure.
- Strong programming knowledge (e.g., Python, Kafka, Spark, SQL/NoSQL).
- 3 years managing research projects, including planning, reporting, and collaboration.
- Familiarity with GPU/CPU processors, in-memory and MPP computing, and storage technologies.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and cloud data ingestion tools (e.g., AWS, Spark, Kafka).
BONUS:
- Ph.D. in Engineering or related fields with a specialization in AI or data infrastructure.
- Proven track record of collaboration in corporate R&D settings.
- Experience in IoT, edge computing, and connected systems architecture (3 years).
- Knowledge of connected car architecture and vehicle compute requirements.
- Programming experience with Python, Rust, and embedded systems (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Arduino).
- Familiarity with multicultural, multinational work environments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
- Must be able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
- Must be able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
