Location: Onsite in Newton, NJ
Contract Term: 6 months with potential to extend or hire on fulltime
Job Title: Desktop and Network Support Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused User and Network Support Technician to provide technical support for end-user computing and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining Windows 10 and 11 operating systems, VMware ESXi blades, Windows Servers, Cisco phone systems, Cisco switches, and Firepower firewalls. This role involves providing hands-on support for desktops, laptops, servers, and network devices, ensuring optimal performance and security across the IT environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide desktop support for Windows 10 and 11 environments, including troubleshooting software, hardware, and peripheral issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Servers, managing Active Directory, Group Policy, and user access.
- Support and manage VMware ESXi blades, performing system updates, virtual machine deployments, and troubleshooting performance issues.
- Administer and maintain Cisco phone systems, ensuring smooth VoIP communication and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco switches, including VLANs, trunking, port configurations, and network performance monitoring.
- Support Cisco Firepower firewalls, monitoring security logs, implementing firewall rules, and ensuring network security compliance.
- Perform network troubleshooting, identifying and resolving connectivity issues across LAN/WAN environments.
- Assist with system upgrades, patch management, and regular maintenance of IT infrastructure.
- Document issues, resolutions, and IT procedures using ticketing systems and knowledge base tools.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of networked systems.
- Provide technical guidance and training to end users on system usage and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in desktop and network support roles.
- Strong proficiency in Windows 10 and 11 troubleshooting and support.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server administration (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with VMware ESXi for managing virtualized server environments.
- Knowledge of Cisco phone systems (or similar) and VoIP troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Cisco switches (configuration, VLANs, spanning tree, trunking) and Firepower firewalls.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and VPN technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve hardware/software/network issues.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and documentation skills.
