Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement database designs, including cloud database creation and maintenance.
- Allocate resources such as storage, compute, and memory.
- Develop strategies for high availability (HA), failover, disaster recovery (DR), and replication.
- Optimize database systems for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Monitor and enhance database query performance and indexing.
- Establish access and authentication controls, encryption, and data masking.
- Implement database backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve database usage and performance.
- Lead the migration of databases to the Azure platform.
- Perform capacity planning and demand forecasting for database systems.
- Identify and troubleshoot database-related issues promptly.
- Stay current with the latest Azure technologies and industry trends.
- 7 to 9 years of Database Administration experience with major DBMS platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, DB2 LUW, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- 5 to 7 years of experience managing large databases and large-scale projects.
- 3 to 5 years of experience with cloud-based database technologies such as Azure SQL, Azure SQL MI, and Azure SQL for PostgreSQL.
- 1 to 3 years of experience with NoSQL database systems like MongoDB, DynamoDB, Azure Cosmos DB, Neo4j, or Neptune.
- Familiarity with Microsoft DevOps and PowerShell scripting.
- BS/BA in Computer Science or a related field.
- Advanced SQL Server Administration experience.
- 2 years of PostgreSQL experience and 1 year of NoSQL experience.
