Mental Health Administrative/Clinical Support Assistant

Job Summary
Reports to the Practice Manager and provides support for Psychiatric Mental Health Provider and additional mental health providers within a private practice setting. Primary responsibilities include patient care such as assistance with prescription refills, communicating with patients, scheduling, etc. Additional duties consist of greeting patients, answering telephones, maintaining providers' schedules, collecting payments and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates high level of interpersonal skills necessary to consistently interact with patients, visitors, and staff members in a professional and courteous manner.
- Demonstrates good communication and telephone usage skills to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to a variety of internal and external contacts.
- Requires knowledge of general office procedures and proficient computer skills to complete tasks in an accurate and efficient manner, while working in a multi-tasking environment.
- Requires analytical skills necessary to solve patient problems and interpret data.
- Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment with other administrative staff, physicians, nurse practitioners and therapists.
- At least one year of medical/behavioral health office experience is required, while prior knowledge of how to process prescription refills in an electronic medical records system is preferred.
- Ability to protect and maintain the highest level of patient confidentiality to ensure compliance with HIPAA Privacy & Security regulations, as well as the ethical standards of the practice.
- Exhibits a professional appearance and demeanor which reflects confidence, positive self-esteem and overall professionalism with a “can do” attitude.
