Title: Senior Accounts Payable Specialist
Status: Full-Time / Non- Exempt
Working side by side with our CFO, Controller, and CEO to make a positive difference in the accounting and finance function. Collaborating with all departments, this individual will be responsible for providing support to the period-end accounting, financial reporting, payroll, compliance, and risk management.
What You’ll Be Doing
· Obtain new vendor information for input and maintain current information on established vendors.
· Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
· Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
· Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports, recording entries.
· Obtains proper approvals from management before issuing payment.
· Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verifying federal id numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos: purchase order amendments.
· Pays employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and requests for advances, preparing checks.
· Prepares annual 1099 forms.
· Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
· Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements.
· Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
· Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
What a Successful Senior Accounts Payable Specialist Brings to the Table
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook.
• Experience with accounting software packages including report writing and GL maintenance is a plus.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and overall understanding of accounting systems.
• Accurate data entry and strong attention to detail are required.
• A results-oriented professional style and the ability to effectively multitask and work within deadlines.
• Confidentiality: Regularly exposed to and participates in highly confidential meetings dealing with proprietary information and sensitive situations.
• U.S citizenship and the ability to pass a background investigation.
Credentials
• Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance (Preferred).
• Two to three years of related accounting experience.
• Restaurant industry accounting experience (Preferred).
