Job Overview: The Field Service Technician must have excellent customer service skills and be willing to take the extra steps necessary to provide exceptional customer support and service. They must be friendly, punctual and trustworthy, provide high quality work, and have thorough problem-solving skills.
The repair aspect of the job does not require any specific experience with or knowledge of therapy equipment, but does require strong mechanical skills (replace small electric motors, treadmill belts, etc.) and basic electrical skills (equivalent to replacing an AC switch or receptacle). Each repair is different so judgment and electromechanical aptitude are critical. You will receive company training and also make use of technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, manufacturer support, and PTU office support. The installation aspect of the job requires some moderate lifting and moving. 70% of the job is providing on-site routine maintenance of small therapeutic medical equipment, medical and chiropractic tables and exercise equipment. This will require remembering correct procedures and safety standards.
As a field service technician, you will be on the road 5 days a week. Primary coverage areas will be Southern CT, NY, NJ, and Eastern PA but occasional overnight trips to other locations may be required. Occasional out-of-state manufacturer training may be required. The day starts early (usually around 7AM). All travel expenses are paid for by the company. A vehicle, tools and equipment are provided.
Job Functions:
- Documentation (electronically) of equipment at clinic locations
- Testing and calibration according to approved manufacturer requirements
- On-site service, diagnostics and electrical and mechanical repairs
- Documentation of problems and parts required for repair
- Become well-versed in all relevant equipment to explain to customers best use and maintenance practices.
- Follow safety policy standards and practices, OSHA and state requirements, and maintain a clean workspace
- Assemble new equipment as needed, including tables, treadmills, and other therapy equipment
- Ensure that all documentation is complete, accurate, and timely
- Ensure adequate levels of parts and inventory for service vehicle
- Maintenance, upkeep and overall condition of service vehicle, equipment and tools
- Partner with office and repair shop
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to rapid business changes that accompanies a high-growth environment
- Timeliness and adherence to set schedules, priority management, sense of urgency, time management
- Good driving record
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, able to work with little supervision
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Mechanical ability - be able to look at mechanical or electrical equipment and "get it" -understand intuitively how things work and why they aren't working
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. or more of equipment, lift heavy objects, work in tight or confined spaces or under tables. Other activities that may include bending, twisting and repetitive movements, standing and kneeling for long periods of time.
