Job Summary:
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure the reliability and optimal performance of production equipment and facilities within a steel manufacturing environment. This role works closely with maintenance technicians, operations, engineering, and procurement teams to support production goals while minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Maintenance Planner will also have full responsibility of the storeroom and directly manage three storeroom employees to assure accurate and timely receipt and issuance of parts, tools, and supplies needed to support production and maintenance functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed job plans for routine and non-routine maintenance activities, including labor, tools, materials, and equipment required.
- Schedule preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance work using the site’s CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance supervisors to coordinate and prioritize work orders.
- Ensure that job plans are comprehensive and include safety procedures, lockout/tagout instructions, and quality standards.
- Review completed work orders for accuracy and update job plans based on feedback from technicians.
- Manage backlog and ensure work is distributed evenly and efficiently across the maintenance team.
- Monitor equipment performance data and maintenance history to identify recurring issues and recommend solutions.
- Interface with vendors and procurement to ensure timely availability of critical spare parts and materials.
- Support reliability initiatives and continuous improvement efforts to reduce equipment downtime and increase asset life.
- Participate in outage planning, including resource allocation, task sequencing, and contingency plans.
- Assist Storeroom function in the kitting and staging of job material requirement
- Expedites purchase orders with vendors and Purchasing Department as need to support Maintenance and Engineering
- Assists Issue Clerks in issuing storeroom tools, parts, supplies, materials, equipment, etc.
- Oversee the shipping and receiving of repairs on critical parts both inventory and non-inventory.
- Arranging trucking for pickup and delivery
- Creating PR for inventory items
- Receiving repairs material and delivering to storage location
- Maintaining and clean and orderly storeroom.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance planning, preferably within the steel or heavy manufacturing industry.
- Experience with CMMS systems (e.g., Oracle, Maximo, SAP).
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in an industrial setting.

Knowledge of networking and sequel server interfaces; Ability to multi-task.; Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; Demonstrated ability to perform well in a highly dynamic, rapidly changing environment; Experience with Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and GE Fanuc; VFD Drive and HMI's. Excellent communication skills.
