PTC Alliance (PTCA) is a growing, fast-paced, mechanically advanced organization that provides value added solutions to world-wide users of mechanical tubing. This is not “an old steel pipe” business. PTC Alliance is a fact-based, solutions-oriented company that is growing each day. PTCA is a manufacturer of welded steel & alloy tubing and chrome-plated bar. PTCA has twelve plants in PA, OH, IN, IL, MO, MN and TX.
Job Summary:
Responsible for determining the validity of quality functions and/or processes throughout the plant. Maintains the plant Quality Program and accompanying documentation to appropriate standards and corporate guidelines by supervising and directing subordinate activity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Development and documentation of product and material capabilities to effectively meet customer specifications and industry trends.
Review and audit operating procedures for adherence to PTC Alliance procedures and the Corporate Quality Manual.
Analyzes rejects by defect codes and departments. Provides reports to management for appropriate corrective measures.
Conduct statistical studies and make appropriate recommendations for process improvement or customer agreement(s).
Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
Participation in product and manufacturing trials in support of product development.
Collaborative interaction with Sales, Planning, Operations, Technical Services, and customers to properly design and manufacture products in accordance with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) procedures.
Maintains affiliations with appropriate technical and/or professional organizations or associations. Including but not limited to ASTM, and ASNT.
The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and Responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTCA Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
Requirements:
A degree in Engineering or business administration is preferred. Quality certification is a plus.
2 years minimum experience as a Quality Manager in a production processing environment.
Experience with steelmaking, metalworking, and fabricating processes is desirable.
Familiarity with and understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems. ISO/IATF Internal Auditor, or Lead Auditor experience preferred.
Working knowledge of Core Tools, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), PFMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to positively influence others.
Great team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply basic algebraic concepts to practical situations.
Reasoning and Problem Solving Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and specifications in written or diagram form, including drawings, and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables.
Other Skills and Abilities: Must be computer literate and able to work with standard programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.), and be able to learn and use the company’s ERP software, as applicable.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Must possess a valid driver’s license for business travel, such as, customer visits, to attend required meeting, seminars, etc. Must be ASNT certified as Level III in at least the Ultrasonic method or readily trainable to achieve this certification.
