Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Solar Installation Technician to join our team in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in solar PV installation and hold one of the following certifications:
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification
- IBEW-NECA Electrical Journeyman & Apprentice Training
- UL PV System Installer Certification
As a Solar Installation Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting residential and commercial solar energy systems. You will work closely with a team of project managers to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant installations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install solar panels, inverters, and mounting systems according to design specifications and safety standards.
- Perform electrical wiring and connections for PV systems, including conduit bending and terminations.
- Ensure all installations comply with local, state, and national electrical codes.
- Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
- Work at heights, on rooftops, and with various hand and power tools.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Maintain job site cleanliness, safety, and organization.
- Provide excellent customer service and answer client questions regarding their solar system.
Qualifications & Requirements:
One of the following certifications is required:
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification
- IBEW-NECA Electrical Journeyman & Apprentice Training
- UL PV System Installer Certification
- Previous experience in solar installation or electrical work is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of PV systems, NEC codes, and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work on ladders and roofs.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
