Need Monitoring Systems Engineer

Job Description:

As an Engineer 2, candidate will be responsible for collaborating with management, departments, and customers to identify enduser requirements and specifications for infrastructure monitoring and event management.

• Candidate will be required to listen to and evaluate customer needs to determine and provide high quality solutions that align with customer expectations.
• This will involve developing monitoring solutions, automating workflows and using your technical knowledge of professional concepts to solve business problems.
• Candidate will be responsible for evaluating elements of technology’s effectiveness through requirements gathering, testing, research and investigation and make recommendations for improvements that result in increased quality and effectiveness.
• Candidate will also be responsible for the administration and maintenance of monitoring and event management tools.
• The Event, Logging, Monitoring and Alerting (ELMA) team partners to drive business values through indepth insights into the health and performance of client solutions and products.
• The position will help provide application performance, systems performance and event management and automation throughout the IT organization.
• Some of the tasks performed are:
• Process customer requests to add, change or remove alerting or monitoring.
• Provide guidance around monitoring and event standards.
• Aid client Problem Coordination by assessing current and historical information to triage current issues and find root cause of intermittent problems.
• Configure, disperse and escalate custom alerting to the appropriate team(s) to quickly isolate issues.
• Automating work tasks and creating scripted monitoring solutions as we move towards a hybrid environment (cloud, onprem and hosted).
• Deliver performance notifications for unexpected events and scenarios that deviate existing baseline thresholds.
• This role is open to candidates who wish to work remotely

Required Qualifications:

Must be committed to incorporating security into all decisions and daily job responsibilities.

• 3 plus years of related experience
• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure
• Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Shell, and/or Python
• Proficiency with Linux user interface and commands
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong teamwork abilities in a collaborative environment?
• Good troubleshooting and problemsolving skills??
• Ability to quickly triage problems, determine root cause and drive resolution

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred

• Experience with various technologies and tools such as Netcool, Netcool Impact, Nagios, SCOM/SCOrch, TeamQuest, ITNM, VitalSuite
• Experience with virtualization technologies.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, ITIL, and IT Service Management
