Job Description:
- Senior Programmer Analyst
- Cognos 11 reporting, Cognos Transformer Cube, Power BI, and advanced SQL writing abilities.
- The Cognos to Power BI Report Conversion Specialist will be responsible for migrating reports from IBM Cognos to Microsoft Power BI.
- This role involves understanding the existing Cognos reports, converting them to Power BI, and ensuring that the new reports meet the business requirements and performance standards.
- Convert existing Cognos reports to Power BI, ensuring that the new reports match the look, feel, and functionality of the original reports
- Implement data-level security mechanisms in Power BI reports, if defined in the Cognos reports
- Ensure seamless integration with existing data sources, including databases and data warehouses
- Enable real-time data access and updates in Power BI, similar to the current Cognos setup
- Optimize Power BI reports and dashboards for performance, with fast load times and responsiveness
- Design the Power BI environment to be scalable, accommodating future growth and increased data volumes
- Implement role-based access controls in Power BI, mirroring the current user permissions in Cognos
- Ensure secure user authentication and authorization mechanisms are in place
- Conduct thorough testing of all migrated reports, cubes, and models to ensure accuracy and performance
- Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate that the migrated reports meet business requirements
- Provide user manuals, technical guides, and troubleshooting documentation
- Conduct training sessions for the team on the new Power BI reports and functionalities
