PTS Advance is seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) with expertise in overhead and underground power distribution, transmission, or substation engineering for an on-site position in Tampa, FL. This role will support local utility firms with overhead-to-underground conversion projects, ensuring safe and efficient power system transitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead overhead-to-underground power conversion projects for local utility firms.
- Design and oversee underground and overhead transmission and distribution systems.
- Conduct load flow, short circuit, and voltage drop analyses to optimize system performance.
- Collaborate with utility clients, field teams, and project managers to develop engineering solutions.
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Ensure compliance with NESC, NEC, IEEE, and local utility standards.
- Support substation design efforts and coordinate with transmission/distribution systems.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- 5 years of experience in transmission, distribution, or substation engineering.
- Hands-on experience with overhead-to-underground conversion projects.
- Strong knowledge of power system design, protective relaying, and utility infrastructure.
- Experience working with local utility firms is a plus.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, CYME, ETAP, or similar software is preferred.
- Ability to work on-site in Tampa, FL.
