Manufacturing Engineer – Frederick, MD
Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a driven and self-motivated Process Engineer / Plant Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, prioritize, and implement process improvements in a manufacturing facility.

- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams to ensure alignment on process improvements.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on process optimization both locally and across multiple facilities.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, following structured project management processes:
- Develop project specifications for vendor bids.
- Conduct cost-benefit analysis and provide justification for project proposals.
- Train personnel on process changes and improvements.
- Document all process enhancements for long-term sustainment.
- Apply engineering principles and data-driven decision-making to optimize manufacturing performance.
- Identify and implement machinery and process improvements, overseeing projects from concept to commissioning and measuring results.
- Report project outcomes and return on investment (ROI) to executive leadership.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, including drawings, manuals, and spare parts lists.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Systems Engineering preferred).
- At least 7 years of relevant post-secondary professional experience.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (AutoCAD Inventor preferred).
- Ability to read and create P&ID diagrams and electrical one-line schematics.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including experience with hand tools and precision measurement devices.
- Ability to apply data analysis and engineering principles to troubleshoot and improve processes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts effectively to various audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to a fast-changing environment.
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience in roofing manufacturing or web process handling.
- Background in field service engineering or manufacturing engineering.
- Understanding of PLC controls logic and PID control loops.
- Experience in balance-of-plant system design, maintenance, and reliability.
- Prior operating engineer experience.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Work will be split between office and production floor settings.
- The facility operates 24/7, and occasional extended hours may be required for troubleshooting, project implementation, or training.
- The production environment may include moving machinery, elevated heights, airborne dust/fumes, chemicals, heat, and loud noise levels.
- Employees must follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
Salary : $140,000 - $155,000
