What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employment Lawyer – Vice President, Employment Counsel position at Public Company - Louisville, KY?
A Louisville, KY based public company is searching for an in-house employment law attorney to join the company. The ideal candidate will have employment law expertise, providing strategic guidance and counsel to management on a wide range of employment law matters including employment agreements, wage and hour compliance, accommodations, employee leave, employee discipline, terminations, separations, reductions in force, discrimination, harassment, etc. If the candidate has experience in managing related litigation, that would be an added positive. Counsel will also work closely with HR and the CHRO on employee handbooks, trainings and development, and employment related policies and procedures.
Candidates should have 4-10 years of employment law experience, in-house or with a law firm. Candidate must also be a licensed attorney in Kentucky or be able to waive into Kentucky, and should demonstrate outstanding communication, writing and analytical skills. The Ideal candidate will also possess a willingness and ability to assume direct responsibility for matters, the confidence to make independent judgment calls, the ability to provide prompt and immediate counsel, the interpersonal skills to work well as part of a collegial, collaborative team, as well as an entrepreneurial spirit, and the motivation to play an integral role in the continued growth of the company. It is important that the candidate be willing to spend a majority of time in the headquarters office in Louisville, KY.
