Job Description:
The Public Employees Retirement System is recruiting for one (1) experienced Quality Assurance Architect (Information Systems Specialist 7) to help improve our agency software within the Information Services Division’s Developmental Operations Team
- This is a full-time, permanent position.
- This position is based at our headquarters office in Tigard, Oregon, however, the successful candidate will be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
- This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
- This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

What you will be doing:
As a Quality Assurance Architect (Information Systems Specialist 7) you will be responsible designing and implementing testing strategies, developing automated testing systems, and ensuring the quality of software products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development and testing, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to creating the best possible stakeholder experience. This position plays a crucial role in the software development lifecycle by identifying defects early and efficiently, verifying functionality, and improving overall product quality by leveraging automation tools and techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities includes but not limited to:
- Analyze and understand project requirements to identify potential risks and challenges.
- Design and implement testing strategies for software applications.
- Develop and update automated testing systems and frameworks.
- Identify, record, communicate and track software defects and inconsistencies
- Strong communication skills, Provide excellent customer service to Product Owners, Release Managers and Stakeholders
- Assist in determining potential System failures with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Identify and troubleshoot software defects, provide accurate time estimates
- Collaborate with Developers, DevOps engineers, BSAs and other Team members to ensure that quality is considered throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Develop and maintain QA metrics and reports and present to Management
- Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, functionality, security, testability, extensibility, etc.
- Great team player, provides technical guidance and coaching to junior staff
- Conduct root cause analysis of issues and defects to drive process improvements
- Stay up to date with new testing tools, emerging industry trends and test strategies.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
Quality Assurance Architect (Information Systems Specialist 7)
Six (6) years of information systems experience in: designing and implementing testing strategies, developing automated testing systems, and ensuring the quality of software products.
OR
An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;
OR
An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;
AND
Four (4) years of information systems experience in: designing and implementing testing strategies, developing automated testing systems, and ensuring the quality of software products.;
OR
A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
AND
Two (2) years of information systems experience in: designing and implementing testing strategies, developing automated testing systems, and ensuring the quality of software products.;
OR
Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.
Candidates who are the most competitive will possess the following skills, background, and areas of experience:
- Strong background in enterprise software development and various type of tests and purpose.
- Proficiency in relevant software, tools, technologies, processes and methodologies.
- Familiarity with retirement domain and/or financial institutions.
- Knowledge of testing tools like TestComplete, understanding of SQL and RDBMS, Programming skills such as Python or similar scripting languages.
- Familiarity with Quality Gate process.
- Proficiency using version control, CI/CD pipeline and information security
