Salary Range : C42 ($29.07 - $36.83 / hour) - Non-exempt
- salary commensurate with experience Position Summary : Under the direction of the Outpatient Services Chemical Dependency Manager, the Substance Use Mental Health Counselor is responsible for diagnosing substance abuse and mental health disorders and performing assessments to persons from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds. Responsibilities include but not limited to : Providing and managing case management and client services Providing crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques with clients Referring clients to community programs / services; Conducting follow-up as necessary Performing bio / psycho / social assessment of client's mental and physical health; Diagnosing and evaluating client's substance abuse treatment needs, situation, concerns, and barriers for services Formulating individualized client centered treatment plans in collaboration with client's designated support system Monitoring, updating, and modifying treatment plans to be consistent with client's needs and / or conditions Performing individual, group, and family counseling as needed Conducting on-site drug testing and interpreting urine drug screening results from lab Compiling client records and maintaining documentation according to program and accreditation standards and protocols Maintaining confidentiality; Respecting client's privacy while encouraging independence as much as possible Developing and maintaining professional relationships with community partners Distributing and overseeing of referrals received from community partners Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Chemical Dependency, or related field Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and Licensed Social Worker or Professional Counselor Two years of experience in chemical dependency Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams). Understands and acknowledges that Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County uses evidence-based and evidence-informed public health practices based on scientific research including health promotion theory and practice, environmental health measures, and communicable disease control measures including vaccination, isolation, and quarantine practices, and medicine for treatment and prevention of disease, among others. Understands and acknowledges the use of tobacco or nicotine products in any form including replacement therapy products and prescription medications used to treat smoking addiction for anyone hired after January 1, 2014, is prohibited Required to play an active role during a public health emergency, crisis, outbreak, incident, or event in which the Health Commissioner deems additional personnel resources are warranted. This may include changes in responsibilities and working locations / hours Completion of Incident Command System 100 and National Incident Management System 700 courses within 90 days of hire Valid State of Ohio driver’s license and insurance on any personal vehicle that will be used for work Preferred Qualifications : Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Experienced in community-based client interaction.
