Position Summary
Roots of Change (ROC)’s 2025 Internship is an opportunity for a 2nd year bachelor’s degree student in an environmental justice, environmental science, sustainability, or agriculture and food system related program to gain insights into ROC’s efforts to make the food system more climate-smart, equitable, and accessible for all. The intern will assist in increasing social media engagement, in particular for the 18–24-year-old demographic, assisting with podcast production coordination as well as supporting fundraising efforts that include event preparation and execution.
Through this internship, the intern will gain an understanding of ROC’s food system related policy efforts, practical applications and impacts of the various ROC demonstration projects in the areas of environmental, farmworker and public health. The intern will receive training in social media engagement, podcast production, fundraising and event production.
This is a remote, temporary position that is based in California and expected to start in March 2025 and last no more than 89 days. Due to the nature of the work, the intern is required to be familiar with environmental justice and sustainability in California. Candidates who are based in California are strongly preferred. The incumbent is required to work during core business hours for the Pacific Time zone.
This is a part-time 45% FTE (18 hours / week) position, with the possibility of increasing FTE dependent on funding availability.
Full pay range for this position : $17.89 to $22.11 per hour. The starting wage is determined based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.

- Help identify social media strategies to increase followers, especially the 18- to 24-year-old demographic.
- Research engaging topics, events, podcasts for this demographic. Create social media posts and evaluate analytics.
