The Executive Director’s responsibilities encompass providing visionary leadership and comprehensive management of the Health Promotion Services (HPS) Division at PHMC and its subsidiary, the Health Promotion Council (HPC). This dual role includes the day-to-day administrative, programmatic, operational, and fiscal oversight of both entities. For HPS, this includes oversight of PHMC programs such as the Philadelphia Area Sexual Health Initiatives (PASHI) and the Workforce Development Departments. The Executive Director is also responsible for HPC’s departments, which include Tobacco Control and Prevention, The Advocacy Institute, Training and Capacity Building, Nutrition and Active Living, and Family Services.
Collectively, HPS and HPC have a combined annual budget of $12 million and a workforce of 70 staff. The Executive Director leads strategic development, programmatic and fiscal management, entrepreneurial growth, and innovative health-related program development across both entities. Additionally, the Executive Director builds and maintains strong relationships with funders, government officials, community leaders, and health and human service providers. Representing PHMC’s mission and vision at local and regional public health, social service, and community events, the Executive Director works closely with the HPC Board to drive strategic planning, manage organizational growth, and oversee specialized marketing and revenue-generating activities.

- Maintains and enhances the agency’s positive image in the community, serving as a primary spokesperson and thought leader at state, regional, and national conferences, while advocating for evidence-based approaches to public health, social services, and health education
- Builds and sustains coalitions and innovative partnerships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, journalists, foundations, and corporations, to advance strategic objectives

EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of five (5) years of executive experience and skills in the nonprofit and/or business sector with a record of progressive achievement in organization leadership, management, administration, financial operations, and fundraising
- Experience working with state and local government oversight as well as local and national funding agencies
- Successful experience working with racially and ethnically diverse staff, outside professionals, and community members
- Experience in planning for and leading change in organizations and working with organizations and groups focused on continual quality improvement and excellence
- Successful and proven grant writing experience, garnering multi-year and multimillion-dollar grants and contracts
- Strong fiscal management experience including interpreting financial reports, budgeting, monitoring, as well as a working knowledge of fiscal internal controls and non-profit federal grants management regulations
