Position Summary
- Occupational Therapist 1 is professional work in administering occupational therapy programs in a county hospital and in homes.
- Occupation Therapists 1 are responsible for performing a full range of occupational therapy activities following physician prescriptions, and combining professional therapeutic skills with knowledge of fundamental theory and objectives of rehabilitation.
- Employees in this classification develop therapy treatment plans, evaluate patient progress, decide on treatment modifications and prepare analytical progress notes.
- Incumbents perform in rehabilitation, psychiatric and continuing patient care settings.
- Treatment involves a variety of media including arts and crafts, pre-vocational testing, functional therapy, program for activities of daily living and educational skills.
- An additional responsibility is for the training and daily supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants.
- Work is performed in accordance with recognized professional principles and techniques, and professional judgment is required in development and modification of treatment plans and evaluation of patients' progress.
Responsibilities
Experience
Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy and completion of an internship program are Required.
License Certification
Valid Florida License as an Occupational Therapist is Required.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
