Public Interest Registry (PIR, the Reston, VA-based non-profit operator of the .ORG top-level domain with more than 11 million active registrations worldwide) has an outstanding internship opportunity within our Product and Innovation team for a Research Associate for the summer of 2025.
The Product and Innovation team at PIR is dedicated to identifying and developing innovative product and service solutions tailored for the mission-driven community. Our primary objective is to continue to build and expand the .ORG footprint while helping non-profit organizations identify products that can enhance their operational effectiveness.
We are seeking a passionate and curious undergraduate Product Analyst Intern who is excited about learning about how technology can help improve the efforts of the mission drive nonprofit community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user needs and product requirements.
- Contribute to product strategy recommendations based on data analysis.
- Participate in user testing and feedback collection processes.
Additional Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive analysis of existing nonprofit-focused technology platforms, identifying gaps and opportunities for new product development.
- Research and evaluate AI-based products that could enhance nonprofit operational efficiency, creating a report on their potential applications and benefits
Learning Objectives
This internship will provide hands-on experience in the product management field, allowing the intern to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios in the nonprofit sector.
- Product Development Process: Learn about the stages of product development, from concept to market release.
- Data Analysis: Learn to collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources to inform product decisions.
- Market Research: Gain experience in studying industry trends, competition, and target customer needs to identify new market opportunities.
- User Experience: Develop skills in gathering and synthesizing user feedback to improve product design and functionality.
- Business Acumen: Gain insights into interpreting data in practical business scenarios and understanding how products generate value.
- Communication Skills: Enhance their ability to articulate insights, prepare reports, and create presentations for various stakeholders.
Supervision Received and Exercised
Position works under direct supervision of the Senior Director, Product and Innovation.
Preferred Skills, Qualifications and Other Requirements
- Ability to work 40 hours per week throughout the term of the internship on a hybrid location basis with two days per week (typically Tuesdays and Thursdays) in our Reston, VA office and the remaining hours per week remotely.
- Enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university majoring in analytics, or related field.
- Excellent listening, negotiation, presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, with excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to PIR’s mission.
- Ability to communicate confidently.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. This position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship or CPT Authorization.
