Instruction and Preparation :
Address the learning needs of all students, creating independent learning opportunities.Plan and deliver cognitively engaging lessons, integrating social-emotional practices.Use data to drive decision-making and improve student outcomes.Demonstrate a passion for learning, a growth mindset, and a love for reading.Relationship Building and Student Support :
Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all stakeholders.Utilize restorative justice principles to manage conflicts and redirect behavior.Celebrate student progress and maintain high standards for effort and achievement.Family and Community Engagement :
Build trust and care with families through regular communication.Encourage authentic family participation in classroom activities and learning opportunities.Provide families with tools to support student learning at home.Professional Responsibilities :
Reflect on feedback and continuously improve teaching practices.Participate in professional development, mentorship, and coaching cycles.Maintain accurate records for grading, progress monitoring, and communication.Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a professional learning community.Requirements :
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.An M.A., Ed.M, or master’s degree in English, History, or a relevant content area (preferred).New York State Certification for the relevant grades and content area (or process toward reciprocity).At least 2 years of demonstrated success as a full-time middle school teacher.Evidence of excellence in teaching, including continuous learning and data analysis.Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.A commitment to single-sex education and a growth mindset.Public Preparatory Network is an Equal Opportunity employer.
