About PSRS/PEERS

PSRS/PEERS is the largest defined benefit pension plan in Missouri with more than 315,000 members. We work in partnership with Missouri public school districts to provide retirement security for Missouri's public school teachers and education employees.

Most of our 173 employees work out of our main office located on the west side of Jefferson City, Missouri, the state capital. Our office is open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. We provide state-of-the-art technology and security, with comfortable, ergonomic working spaces and collaborative areas throughout the building. About the Job

As a Benefits Specialist I, you will be an integral part of the Benefits team within the Member Services department. PSRS/PEERS members rely on our Benefits Specialists when making important financial and life decisions. Specialists must understand, analyze and provide accurate, complete and timely benefit and membership information.

Our Benefits Specialist I reports to the Benefits Manager and has opportunity for limited telecommuting once training is complete. In-state professional development opportunities are provided and encouraged. Some overnight travel is required.

In this role, you will analyze member records, prepare calculations and process the member applications and forms related to our service purchase and service retirement processes, as well as requests for lump-sum payments.

You will use your keyboarding skills, mathematical ability and attention to detail to assemble personalized member packets in response to requests for calculations. You will also enter member data into our pension administration system, and track and communicate with members about documents needed for the timely completion of application processes.

In addition, you will assist our call center by answering phones and web chats during periods of high volume and participate in the regular front desk receptionist rotation. You will attend retirement seminars and other informational meetings held around the state to answer member questions and provide support for presenters.


Job Requirements

Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED/HiSET equivalent and at least two years' office experience (substitutions may be allowed). Pension experience is preferred.
