Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Systems Commissioning Engineer to join our team in the Engineering Services department for the Salem Power Uprate Project. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for sponsoring and implementing power uprate modifications, ensuring adequate systems integration, and supporting changes to the Preventive Maintenance and Surveillance Program.
About the Role: In this critical position, you will work closely with our project managers and engineers to assess the required scope of work, explore alternative solutions, and sponsor plant modifications through the plant approval process. You will also ensure that engineering deliverables meet overall project goals, provide field support during modification walkdowns, and comply with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess the Required Scope of Work: Evaluate the necessary modifications to achieve power uprate goals and identify potential risks and challenges.
- Sponsor Plant Modifications: Lead the plant approval process for proposed modifications, ensuring alignment with project objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure Adequate Systems Integration: Oversee system lead engineer responsibilities for modifications, guaranteeing seamless integration of new and existing systems.
- Support Changes to Preventive Maintenance and Surveillance Program: Collaborate with the PMSP team to develop and implement procedures for modified equipment and systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications: To succeed in this role, you will need a strong background in mechanical engineering, particularly in power uprate projects. Your expertise should include thermal performance modeling and monitoring, as well as experience working in pressurized water reactors (PWR). A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or a related field, is required, along with at least 13 years of relevant experience in nuclear power plants or a related industry.
