About The Transportation Department
The Transportation Department’s mission is to facilitate safe and secure commercial transportation on public highways, railroads, and transportation facilities, as well as to promote quality and equitable service in a proactive manner for the public and commercial carriers in the household goods, bus and ferry boat industries. This is accomplished through reduction and prevention of crashes involving commercial motor vehicles, reduction and prevention of hazardous materials incidents, development of consumer protection regulations, and resolution of consumer and carrier complaints.

What You'll Do
In this position as a Public Utilities Transportation Examiner, you will:
- Conduct New Entrant Safety Audits
- Prepare Reports
- Provides Education to Carriers
- Conduct CMV Inspections
- Use technology to document and transmit information
- Presents educational outreach
- Answer technical questions related to motor carrier regulations
- Employee will use their home as their report-in location/headquarters. The employee's home must be located within 50 air miles of report in location of:
6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in applicable state & Public Utilities Commission regulatory requirements, rules & procedures pertaining to areas audited (e.g., motor carrier operational records, bills of lading); 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations; valid driver's license.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
