Our Earth City, Missouri plant is hiring Bindery Operators for 1st shift. As a Bindery Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the machines and processes within the areas of our Bindery Department, which includes binding, trimming and head banding and casing in, and the finishings as provided by customer specifications. You will assist with other tasks as needed, such as checking quality and cleaning the machines, and sending completed orders to the shipping department.
As a Bindery Operator, you have:
· Experience in a manufacturing environment is required, experience with book manufacturing or bindery equipment is highly preferred
· Mechanically inclined – physical and manual dexterity and the ability to distinguish between colors and spot quality issues as small as tiny imperfections on a cover page or creasing in pages
· Experience operating machines such as cutters, trimmers, binders, head banders, sewing, coiling and similar machines
· Knowledge of customer-specific work order requirements – experience with reading job tickets and/or using job management systems and handheld scanners, and can easily learn our job management systems
· Time management skills to meet or exceed daily metrics, and are punctual and reliable
· Attention to detail – experience with quality control is a plus
· Energy and enthusiasm – you like challenges and learning new things, can adapt and pivot your focus as production needs demand
· The ability to stand for extended periods of time, as well as handle and lift materials up to 25 lbs.
