JOB TITLE: Shipping and Receiving Associate

REPORTS TO: Plant Manager

PAY TYPE: Hourly

SUMMARY:

Verifies records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepares finished goods and other items for shipping in a timely manner. Reviews shipping notices, bills of lading, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

• Prepares out outgoing shipment paperwork to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. Ensures quality paperwork is correct and included in shipments where applicable.
• Safely prepares shipping pallets by using strapping materials to ensure a damage free transit.
• Have experience using computers and basic software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Reviews incoming shipment documents and material condition and accurately records paperwork.
• Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
• Uses basic measuring equipment such as measuring tape, calipers and scales to receive raw material and verify against packing slip.
• Prepares bills of lading.
• Coordinates with Materials Manager to store items in their proper location.
• Utilizes a forklift to safely move around pallets and raw materials such as long bars of metal.
• Has experience with hand tools.
• Make recommendations to supervisor of changes to area or equipment to enhance productivity.
• Organize storage space to accommodate and inventory all raw/finished goods as needed.
  
  

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Must have good driving record.
• One year shipping, purchasing and receiving experience highly preferred.
• Language: Ability to effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbal and written in the English language.
• Mathematical & Reasoning: Ability to perform basic mathematical computations; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to identify problems and draw valid conclusions.
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift approximately 50lbs when required. Ability to physically complete shifts requiring the employee to stand, walk and reach with arms and hands. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and to adjust focus.
• Understand work flow in a warehouse setting.
