Assembly Operator - Job Description
General Summary: This position reports to the Production Manager or their department designee. Performs basic assembly duties for the assembly of hose couplings and accessories.
Education and Work Experience Requirement:
High School diploma or equivalent required. This is a basic entry level position requiring no prior experience.
Equipment and Applications:
Hand tools, Impact tools, Arbor press, Etc.
Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Responsibilities:
1) Work Ethic
1.1) Reports to work as scheduled. Does not display a pattern of unexcused absences and / or working incomplete shifts, properly reports back to work from meal and/or break periods.
1.2) Works as a team player with other team members. Presents a positive attitude, and does not disparage assigned tasks, team members, company or management
1.3) Willingness to work overtime as required to satisfy demand and requirements
1.4) Makes good use of time to ensure productivity outputs are met. Does not wander or take excessive restroom breaks. Always stays productive.
2) Safety
2.1) Works in a safe manor following safety guidelines.
2.2) Uses PPE as required.
2.3) Brings safety concerns to management attention.
3) Direction / Focus
3.1) Stays engaged with assigned tasks, does not deviate for non-essential reasons.
3.2) Seeks out additional work upon completion of assigned tasks. Takes initiative on tasks without being told.
4) Computer System
4.1) Can take day to day production outputs and accurately update EPICOR system.
4.2) Maintains paperwork used for control of production, inventory movement, quantity counts.
5) Blueprint / Quality Control
5.1) Is gaining knowledge to understand blueprints and quality documents.
6) Skill Development
6.1) Shows the desire to learn new skills of the trade and advance beyond current position.
7) Operations
7.1) Receives process travelers, verifies that the components are correct, and closes them out
7.2) Assembles couplings, clamps, and other products
7.3) Maintains inventory control during the assembly process
7.4) Keeps excess inventory put away, maintains a clean work environment, assists with packaging materials for shipment
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role will require a willingness to work overtime hours including weekends as needed. This position may require heavy lifting, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. The ability to lift 50 pounds is required. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
Opportunity:
Tier I Assembly Operator, Basic can advance to a Tier II position as skills, capabilities advance.
