We are seeking a dynamic and customer-oriented General Accounting Clerk at our corporate headquarters in Flowood. We offer competitive hourly base pay, comprehensive benefits, and a standard workweek schedule.
The General Accounting Clerk is responsible to execute a variety of general ledger account record maintenance and reconciliation activities involving warranty and accounts payable invoices, capital assets, privilege licenses and ad valorem taxes. In addition, the position is accountable to execute related clerical activities that support overall finance and accounting operations.
Essential Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:
- Post cash transactions related to the Company’s rental store sales into the general ledger system.
- Post manual invoices and credits into the general ledger system. Process accounts payable invoices paid via credit cards.
- Process the Company’s warranty invoices. Research discrepancies and assist with the reconciliation of related accounts payable entries and ledger accounts.
- Process the registration and payment of the Company’s privilege licenses and ad valorem taxes.
- Enter all capital asset additions into the Company’s fixed asset information system, tie balances to the general ledger, and reconcile related capital asset accounts.
- Perform related duties and support special project activities as assigned.
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of combined work experience as a general accounting clerk in a corporate headquarters environment supporting multiple branch locations and a high volume of transactional activities.
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Good problem-solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with a high level of accuracy.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and accounting management information system applications.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic, and deadline sensitive environment.
- Ability to work standard five-day work schedule, including daily overtime, and occasional weekend hours as necessary.
