Clinical Nursing Manager
Starting Pay Range - $38.66 - $45.49, hourly and considers experience and education.

Job Summary: Supervise and train clinical medical assistants and nurses. Perform assessments of patients. Perform routine nursing functions pertinent to ambulatory care. Provide health screening, patient education, care management and planning of treatments for primary care-related illnesses/diseases and other infectious diseases. Schedule appointments. Provide care for patients who walk in for nurse visits. May provide direct patient care with a medical provider. Some administrative duties to include clinic supplies and vaccine and medication management.
Reports to: Director of Nursing Services
Supervision Exercised: Medical Assistants, Medical Assistant - Bilingual 1, Medical Assistant - Bilingual 2, and Registered Nurses, LPNs, Medical Assistant Apprentices and Medical Assistant Mentors.
Education/Experience/License/Certification:
- Graduate of an NLN Accredited Nursing Program.
- Prior experience as an ambulatory clinical nurse preferred.
- Three years of previous experience and one year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Current Colorado Registered Nurse License required.
- Current B.L.S. with skills demonstration C.P.R. certification for Healthcare Providers required within 90 days of hire.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance coverage as required by law.
Required Travel: Frequent travel is required including day-to-day local travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Ensure the function and activities of this department to embrace the philosophy, mission, values and Communicate with Heart service model supported by the Board of Directors of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc.
- Adhere to the guidelines and procedures of PCHC.
- Apply organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
- Supervise clinical Medical Assistants, MA apprentices, MA Mentors, LPNs and RNs at assigned clinic locations. Provide and complete core competencies and clinical skills training.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and provide employees with feedback on a regular basis.
- Assist Director of Nursing Services with interview and selection of new staff.
- Work with Nursing Management team to maintain adequate clinical MA/Nursing coverage for daily operations for clinical sites supervised.
- Provide staff support and direction for daily operation
- Work with MA Mentors to schedule training for new nursing staff.
- Develop and monitor quality improvement activities/projects within the department annually.
- Monitor and maintain compliance of Nursing and Infection Control Policies and Procedures at all sites.
- Proficient in clinical workflows and act as a resource to staff.
- Proficient in Vaccine Inventory Management system and workflows.
- Maintain processes to ensure safe and compliant vaccine and medication distribution.
- Participate in all Organizational audits as they pertain to the Nursing department.
- Monitor clinical workflow and activities to ensure timely completion of daily tasks.
- Assist with accurate and timely completion of time and attendance activities.
- Perform and document assessments, evaluations and communications in patient record.
- Provide patient education as required.
- Ensure readiness for clinical emergencies.
- Attend departmental and organizational meetings.
- May assist a Medical Provider in providing direct patient care if needed.
- Follow and ensure compliance with equipment sterilization procedures.
- Understanding of all case management programs (EIS, breast health, colorectal cancer screening, geriatric and pediatric immunization and (MAW)) used within the department.
- Access, use and update clinical data from various outside agencies.
- Ensure all clinical information is entered into and maintained within patient record.
- Provide health care services appropriate to the age-specific needs of all patients in accordance with the principles of growth and development for infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric life cycles.
- Maintain CPR certification and current licensure.
- Have proficiency and understanding of safety and security practices implemented at PCHC.
- Maintain patient confidentiality; have knowledge of and processes for HIPAA compliance.
- May be required to provide services to an individual who is not a patient of the health center when the provider is then asked, called upon, or undertakes at or near the location of an emergency to provide service to a non-health center patient in an emergency situation or temporarily treat or assist in treating the non-health center patient.
- May be required to provide supervision of students and medical residents providing care at the health center’s facilities.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Nursing Services.
