What are the responsibilities and job description for the Race/Sports Betting Teller position at Pueblo of Pojoaque?
JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for selling and cashing betting tickets for horse races and sporting events.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Place wagers per customer instruction
- Maintain a cash bank for his/her shift, responsible for accepting payment and making correct change when necessary.
- Make payments on winning tickets in an accurate and timely manner; verify tickets and payoffs.
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
- Must be 21 years or older
- Excellent listening skills
- Ability to place wagers accurately
- Basic math skills; cash handling experience
- Ability to handle a variety of customer requests and personalities
- Basic computer skills
- Experience in banking, retail, or customer service helpful
- Knowledge of professional sports, sports betting terminology, bet types and rules helpful
- Knowledge of horse racing and/or simulcast operations helpful
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- (6) months cashier experience preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Casino setting
- Shift work required. Must be willing to rotate shifts as needed. Required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.
