JOB PURPOSE: To perform Cashier duties for the Pojoaque True Value and provide quality customer service. This is a full-time position
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares sales slip or sales contract.
- Reviews price sheets to note price changes and sales items.
- Obtains credit authorization on charge purchases.
- Receives payment or obtains credit authorization.
- Balances cash received with cash sales.
- Bags or boxes merchandise for the customer.
- May assist with display and visual presentation of merchandise.
- Stocking: Stocks shelves, counters, or tables with merchandise. Stamps, marks, or tags prices on merchandise.
- Cleans shelves, counters or tables.
- Assists with the annual inventory.
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Good skills in retail sales and merchandising (or the willingness to learn).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle a variety of customer requests and personalities. Must be people-oriented, have a good attitude, and be open-minded.
- Skills in handling money and using cash register, calculator, and computer.
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Knowledge of retail hardware, identification and application of power and hand tools, paints and chemicals.
REQUIRED EDUCATION OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school Diploma or GED
- (6) months retail hardware sales
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Standing-50% /Walking-50% /Sitting-0%; Store setting.
- Lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs. With assistance.
- Exposure to some cleaning chemicals.
- Some exposure to paint and chemical fumes
- Required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
