Deli Assistant (Lanai Service Station)

Job Description

Prepares and packages hot and cold foods for sale to the customers following food safety and sanitation guidelines. Provides customer service, including greeting customers and answering any questions.

$21.05/hour (non-exempt)

Reports to: Store Manager, Lead Deli Assistant

Supervises: None

Responsibilities

Essential Duties

• Prepares and packages hot and cold foods following safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Ensures that the Deli display is clean at all times.
• Labels all products with price and required dating.
• Ensures proper stocking of merchandise in the Produce and Deli department.
• Inspects all deli, produce, and ready-to-eat food that arrives at the Grocery Store for quality and weight.
• Receives merchandise and supplies accurately.
• Merchandises products in proper order, rotating when necessary.
• Ensures that storage area is clean and sanitary.
• Follows food safety and sanitation requirements at all times.
• Keeps abreast of inventory to maximize freshness.
• Assists with maintaining proper par levels of produce and deli items.
• Performs physical inventory as required.
• Maintains a clean, neat, and organized work area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualification/Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• One to two years experience in deli operation, preferred.
• Working knowledge of produce and deli products, preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food safety practices for preparing and serving food.
• Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.
• Requires working to the established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.
• Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.
• Ability to create effective working relationships with people.
• Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.
• Must have basic knife skills.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.
• The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision.
