Job Description
Under direct supervision, performs general maintenance, repair, and construction work on the potable water treatment and distribution system of the Lanai Water Company (LWC). Operates maintenance and construction tools and equipment, and performs a variety of maintenance tasks relative to water distribution and treatment.
Compensation :
18.73 / hour (non-exempt)

Reports to : Director of Utilities, Utilities Superintendent, and Utilities Lead

Responsibilities
Essential Duties
Under direction, makes adjustments on service equipment, and maintains all tools and equipment in working order.Maintains logs of daily activities, inventory, and other records as required.Under direction, operates and maintains wells, reservoirs, and treatment facilities. Inspects residential and commercial service issues.Learns to utilize the computerized SCADA system for operations of the water system.Under direction, learns to monitor and adjust water production and treatment equipment.Assists with laying and fitting pipelines; making water line taps; and installing water services, fire hydrants, valves, and other water devices.Excavates trenches and installs shoring.Performs Landscape maintenance.Performs field duties related to the water system. Takes water samples and inspects new construction.Identifies service and main leaks, operates pipe locators, and installs backflow devices.Learns to read and update water distribution maps, as-build plans, and blueprints.Cleans and monitors pump stations and related equipment.Assists in performing emergency repairs to water lines as necessary, and establishing proper traffic control devices.Assists in the repair, maintenance, and installation of water meters and related service lines. Reads meters, and turns services off and on as necessary.Lay outs and installs traffic signs and pavement markings.Remains available to cover for call outs.Becomes familiar with the rules, regulations, and policies of the LWC and State DOH.Takes water samples and delivers to Health Department for mandated testing.Learns to perform underground service alert locating, marking, and notification.Performs work with due regard to safety of self and fellow employees, and with proper care and protection of Company property.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications

Must have basic math skills.Must be proficient in the use of computers.Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.Requires working to established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.Requires good verbal and written communication skills.Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions.Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.Ability to create effective working relationships with people.Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.Required Work Cards / Certifications :
Valid Hawaii Driver's License and successful review of Motor Vehicle Record.Physical Requirements :
