Description
Job Goal: To effectively provide supervision & child care in the PACE Before & After School Program on school days while maintaining a safe, healthy & nurturing environment.
Supervise and engage in activities with students enrolled in the PACE Before School Program. Assist in maintaining a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for the children.
This position is After School Paraprofessional at Hillcrest Elementary, Monday through Friday, 3:30pm to 5:30pm when school is in session.
Essential Job Functions:
Must be able to:
arrive at work promptly and attend regularly
follow directions and work well with others
perform routine tasks & be flexible
react to & embrace change productively
perform other tasks as assigned
Communicate with parents regarding their child and discuss relevant issues with them
Provide appropriate toys and developmentally appropriate activities for young children
Maintain a healthy and safe environment for children and keeping room clean and sanitized
Conduct self in a professional, responsible manner by being punctual, demonstrating appropriate decision making, displaying patience and using positive guidance techniques
Be willing to care for students in the classroom, outside on the playground or where assigned
Document inappropriate behavior & health reports when needed
Willing to attend and participate in staff meetings/continuing education trainings
Be willing to work at other schools when necessary in emergency, & low staffing situations
Perform other task as assigned by the Director

Qualifications

Prefer 18 years of age and completed high school or equivalent education
Must be able to individually provide school age care for children in accordance with State of Wisconsin child care guidelines (ages 5 ratio is 1:17)
Must have CPR & First Aid Training or willing to enroll in courses after hired
Demonstrated ability to:
work collaboratively with others teachers

maintain confidentiality
communicate positively/effectively with students, parents & other staff
carry out emergency/crisis response procedures
Commitment to the Pulaski Board of Education Educational Philosophy
