Description
Are you a leader in serving neurodiverse learners such as students identified with autism, emotional behavior disability, attention or learning differences, or those who have experienced trauma? If so, apply for the Neurodiverse Student Specialist where you will provide coaching and support for staff, families using evidence-based practices that work! Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm
Job Goal: The Program Support Teacher - Neurodiverse Student Specialist provides support to students, families and staff across grade levels throughout the district. Coaching will be driven by student outcomes and will support the implementation of evidence-based practices designed to meet the unique needs of each student.
Qualifications:
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification in at least one area of special education is required, multiple areas of certification is preferred.
Three years of successful classroom experience in special education.
Knowledge of special education criteria, diagnostic, and evaluation procedures for students with neurodiverse learning needs.
Knowledge of special education law and due process requirements,
Knowledge of special education classroom management strategies, student management strategies and classroom accommodations.
Commitment to the philosophy and goals of the Pulaski Community School District.
Demonstrated leadership and ability to work effectively with groups and individuals.
Desire to work collaboratively with other staff members implementing programs in the best interests of the students.
Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.

Position Responsibilities:
- Participate in and lead professional development activities for staff, families, and students related to best practices in serving students with neurodiverse learning needs.
Serve as a member of the building level Schoolwide Intervention Team (SIT), ensuring effective problem-solving that is rooted in research/evidence related to neurodiverse learners.
Use data to design interventions that properly target student needs.
Lead the application and, if awarded, the management of the Supporting Neurodiverse Students project.
Collaborate with staff to ensure effectiveness of identifying the root causes of student behavior and assist in the development of plans to address needs and monitor progress.
Serve as a leader and trainer in student evaluation and assist in the evaluation of students referred for special education services on a case-by-case basis.
Utilize data-based decision-making skills to assist both special education and general education teachers in developing programs to provide quality and comprehensive instruction for the children in the Least Restrictive Environment.
Serve as an IEP team member and as an LEA Representative as needed at IEP Team meetings for students with neurodiverse learning needs as requested.
Participate in family engagement activities, and serve as an ongoing resource for parents and families.
Participate in regular collaboration activities with district administration, specialists and other program support teachers.
Be student-centered, solutions-oriented, and have a positive disposition.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services.
