JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting with the provision of inmate services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Loads mobile library cart; delivers to housing units.
- Receives inmate requests for time spent in the law library; schedules library time for inmates.
- Maintains log of all inmate visits to the law library.
- Receives inmate requests for barber services; schedules barber appointments for inmates.
- Maintains and replaces outdoor/indoor recreational equipment such as basketballs, chess games, checker games, and dominos as directed by supervisor.
- Assists with setting up the room for inmate services such as religious services, counseling sessions, educational services, etc. by moving chairs, equipment, and supplies.
- Assists with inmate marriage services such as obtaining necessary forms. Collects and distributes to appropriate personnel inmate requests/complaints, property receipts, inmate mail, and other communications.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a smoking-restricted office environment. Movement within the Detention Facility is required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Good knowledge of departmental policies and procedures governing inmate services.
- Ability to develop time schedules.
- Ability to maintain simple records.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work shift work. Ability to attend work regularly and reliably.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Visual acuity is necessary for use of a computer screen.
- Digital dexterity is necessary for keyboard operation.
- Ability to lift and carry loads up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to push loaded mobile carts.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in person and by telephone. Ability to travel to other areas of the detention facility.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of high school or GED equivalency; some experience with recreational, educational, or service program support; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check, motor vehicle report, child maltreatment check, and adult maltreatment check.
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
