JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of roads, bridges, and surrounding grounds, and for directing traffic around work sites.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Puts signs up informing motorists of traffic situations or dangers.
- Rakes gravel, shovel and smooth asphalt on roads, and fill potholes.
- Directs traffic around construction sites using flags.
- Cuts weeds and grass along roads and intersections; trims trees for appearance and motorist visibility.
- Drives pick-up truck carrying county employee workers to work sites.
- Installs street signs and marker posts for public information.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other related duties as required.
PERSONNEL SUPERVISED: None.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and requires handling and occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of grade school coursework sufficient to provide reading ability; some experience performing manual labor or related duties; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
