JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for drug education and screening of Reentry Program participants; maintaining accurate information regarding Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT); and providing Narcan training to reentry staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provides Narcan training and drug education to Reentry Program participants.
- Advises Reentry staff on Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) screening procedures.
- Coordinates with medical staff to ensure dosage follows the Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) plan and continues to monitor post-release.
- Establishes and maintains addiction treatment contacts in the community to help facilitate a smooth transition of care post-release.
- Creates an up-to-date community resource guide for Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) in the area.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a smoking-restricted office environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

- Considerable knowledge of office procedures, practices, equipment, and terminology.
- Good knowledge of Sheriff Department policies and procedures.
- Good knowledge of medication use, clinical effects, and composition of drugs, including chemical, biological, and physical properties.
- Good knowledge of HIPAA and other federal and state laws requiring the confidential handling of certain health information.
- Good knowledge of drugs and possible side effects or interactions with other drugs.
- Ability to conduct research and compile information in a meaningful manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with departmental staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- Ability to attend work regularly and reliably.
- Skill in the operation of a computer utilizing word processing software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Visual acuity is needed for the use of the computer monitor.
- Digital dexterity is needed for the use of keyboard and dictation equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally, with individuals and groups, and in writing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of a Doctor of Pharmacy; considerable work experience as a pharmacist or pharmacist technician or in a related area; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
