Description
Prepares radioactive isotopes for administration of patient. Operates scintillation detection equipment to measure isotope concentrations and scanners to record visual representations of isotope concentrations in specific body areas of the patient. Purpose is to obtain information for use by physicians in diagnosis and treatment of disease. May perform laboratory tests on body specimens and compute results of tests. Keeps record of test conducted, test results, and disposition of isotopes and body products containing isotopes. Posts test results to appropriate forms and routes results to physician for interpretation. Responsibilities may be limited to designated areas of procedures.
Qualifications
ARRT registration or equivalent.
