What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant position at PULASKI MEMORIAL HOSPITAL?
Provides health assessments and medical management to patients. The Nurse Practitioner / PA has input into clinical protocols and practices in accordance with policies and applicable laws.
1. Provide treatment and medically manage common illness and injuries complying with written departmental medical protocols and procedures.
2. Perform historical documentation and physical examination. Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies. Provide assessments of wellness or illness. Furnish medications based upon written protocols.
3. Ensure that patients are counseled regarding treatment plans and the use, dosage and possible side effects of medications.
4. Assures referral to appropriate providers when patients require subspecialty medical attention beyond the area's scope of service.
5. Document the patient's visit, in problem-oriented format and in accordance with Federal and State Standards, in the patient's medical record.
6. Initiate drug therapy both chronic and episodic disorders including complications of otherwise normal processes.
7. Demonstrate awareness of emergency situations and performs duties appropriately
Attends mandatory inservices as required within established time frame.
Attends departmental meetings as required.
Adheres to Infection Control Program.
Maintains current license, certification, registration and CPR certifications as applicable.
Follows dress code policy.
Adheres to safety program standards.
Adheres to Attendance/Scheduling policies.
Demonstrates flexibility in recognizing and participating in staffing needs.
Understands and adheres to the Hospitals Mission and Core Values.
MINIMUM REQUIRED:
Completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program. Approximately two years of clinical experience in the area of specialty
Current Indiana Nurse Practitioner License with a current Furnishing license. Current BLS. ACLS required at time of hire.
