What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper/Maintenance Worker position at Puller Veterans Care Center?
Indoor Maintenance
Make routine installations including but not limited to: bulletin boards, light bulbs, electric cord ends, faucet valve seals and window shades. Clean, service, lubricate, and repair minor malfunctions in; air filters, plumbing traps, (unplug drains), ice-making machines, water fountains, roof drains and spouts, and outside areas. Clean air-handling rooms and other shop areas.
Outdoor Maintenance
Maintain the overall appearance of PVCC property to include resident courtyard areas and retention pond. Mow all grassy areas, weed all mulched areas within the property and courtyard areas. Inspect lawn, flowers, shrubs and trees for evidence of insects, fungi and other pests and take appropriate measures for effective control. Plant seeds and bulbs, tree seeding and shrubbery. Mulch all flowerbeds and wooded areas. Weed and thin flowerbeds. Prune trees and trim hedges to advance growth or to improve their appearance. Dig up and store bulbs and roots or mulch beds for protection and appearance. Connect sprinkling equipment and water lawns, shrubbery and flowerbeds. Pesticide and fertilizer application and maintain current and accurate application record and logs. Removal of snow and ice from walks, driveways and entrances by shoveling, salting, use of chemicals, snow blower and plow. Use and maintain all lawn care equipment.
Routine Maintenance and Repairs
Record routine building checks. Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in clean, safe and orderly condition. Make repairs to equipment such as beds, wheelchairs, sprinklers, lawn mowers, etc. Refer major problems to department Director. Drywall patch/repair and room painting.
Pick up and deliver materials as well as other facility errands.
Other Duties
Performs other duties as may be assigned that are within the Maintenance department’s mission and as situations warrant in meeting the overall needs of the facility. Essential Personnel. As a Purchasing Card holder you must follow all of the policy and procedures for having a purchasing card.
May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Serves in an on-call rotation for the Maintenance department.
