What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grocery Team Lead position at Pullman Market?
The Grocery Team Lead helps oversee day to day operations in the retail departments including produce, dairy/deli, center store grocery, and the guests experience. They are the front line of oversight, training and motivation on the market floor with our hourly team members. Reports to the Grocery Manager; manages the market associates, and assists Grocery Manager Operational responsibilities.
Operational Responsibilities
- Assists in organizing and directing all retail areas to maximize profitability while upholding the company’s mission, values, policies, quality and guest experience standards.
- Assists manager with retail team members: schedules, trains, motivates.
- Ensures the team always offers a consistent, high level of service to all guests.
- Maintains an orderly store aesthetic: ensures that only sellable merchandise is placed on the grocery shelves and promptly handles deleted, expired or otherwise non-sellable merchandise.
- Monitors stock levels and orders or requisitions supplies and merchandise as needed.
- Oversees inventory is complete, accurate and on time.
- Communicates and coordinates with the General Manager and Assistant General Manager on updates or issues with the overall layout of product and fixtures in the store.
- Help executes departmental goals with hourly team members.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
- Supports and assists Manager with departmental goals.
- Ensure positive guest service in all areas. Respond to complaints, taking all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.
- Be a leader in hospitality, radiate warmth on the floor, set the example for your team
- Build lasting relationships with our guests by making connections.
- Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
- Communicate daily performance, including sales and and incidents of note to respective Manager/Leaders.
- Report maintenance repairs whether structural, equipment or aesthetic.

Food & Beverage Requirements
- Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
- Communicate with CDC effectively concerning consistent high quality of food presentation.
- Must be ServSafe Manager certified and uphold all ServSafe guidelines.
- Must be TABC certified.
Work Conditions
- Typical work week for this position is 40 hours. Hours may vary if manager must fill in for his/her employees or if emergencies arise.
- Ability to perform all functions at the retail level.
- Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.
- Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as operates phones, computers, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment.
