What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Coding Specialist position at Pulmonary Associates?
Busy, Thirteen provider Pulmonary/Sleep/Critical Care Practice looking for experienced, Full-Time Medical Coding Specialist to join our growing team. The Medical Coding Specialist will be responsible for auditing and coding inpatient critical care provider claims to ensure claims are accurate and compliant prior to sending out. The Coder will also have other Billing positions such as maintaining Patient Ledgers, Accounts Receivables, submitting and posting claims, and helping patients with balances and questions about accounts.
The duties for this position include:
· Submitting clean claims to insurance companies
· Posting patient and insurance payments to patient ledgers
· Working Accounts Receivables, to include following up with insurance companies on aging claims and calling patients on delinquent accounts
· Working appeals to insurance companies
· Taking patient payments over the phone
· Verifying patients insurance
· Answering phone calls
· Helping patients with questions about insurance and/or bills
Requirements:
- Certified in Medical Coding
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Basic medical coding knowledge
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to operate a computer, phone, and basic office equipment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
