Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate billing and coding for medical services, which directly impacts the financial health of our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing processes, along with a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with regulations.

Duties

  • Review and analyze patient medical records to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses, procedures, and services rendered.
  • Utilize coding systems such as ICD-9, , and DRG to assign appropriate codes for billing purposes.
  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
  • Maintain organized medical records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation or coding.
  • Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding guidelines, and insurance policies.
  • Assist in resolving billing inquiries from patients or insurance companies as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proven and coding within a medical office setting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10), DRG classifications, and medical records management.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software is advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills for reviewing complex information.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with healthcare professionals, patients, and insurance representatives.
  • Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is a plus but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.84 - $19.93 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
