Medical Receptionist – Pulmonary & Sleep Clinic
Job Description:
Our busy Pulmonary and Sleep Clinic is seeking a friendly, caring, and professional Medical Receptionist to join our team! As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and providing excellent service. Your responsibilities will include administrative tasks, supporting both the front desk and clinical staff, and contributing to a welcoming atmosphere for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring a positive first impression
- Prepare patient charts in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
- Schedule and manage patient appointments, including reminders and follow-ups
- Check patients in and out, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and up-to-date
- Answer phone calls, direct inquiries, and take detailed messages
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations
- Accept payments and assist with billing-related tasks
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk area
- Assist with additional clinic duties as needed to support team operations
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
- Experience with EMR systems is preferred; Epic EMR knowledge is a plus
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with patients
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Good multitasking abilities, with the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and eagerness to continuously learn
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with scheduling software
